Will my Dendrobium Orchid die in a Flower & Vegetable planting mix?

I bought a Dendrobium Orchid, and the seller said to plant it in a pot indoors in Flower & Vegetable planting mix. The leaves are turning yellow. I bought new ones and used the mix. The old ones I bought years ago, I didnt use the mix, and it turned out great. Now i used the mix on the new orchids, will they die?

However told you that is insane.

Dendrobiums require a very open medium like bark chips or lava rock or a general purpose orchid mix.

Their roots need to breathe and be dry before nightfall.
